Anyone who thinks low cost is incompatible with luxury and design is wrong. They know it well at Northdeco, a purely online Spanish company dedicated to the sale of designer furniture. The company, founded three years ago in Barcelona, ââspecializes in offering its customers exclusive products at an affordable price.
A task that they accomplish to this day with great success. Indeed, in the midst of the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19, they closed 2020 with a turnover of 3.2 million euros.
A figure that positions the brand as one of the companies that sets the trend in the decoration sector. âDespite the pandemic, it has been a very positive year. We doubled our turnover, in 2019 we invoiced 500,000 euros â, explains Josep Cortina, CEO of the company at elEconomista.
Not only has 2020 been great, but so is the outlook for the future. If the company’s estimates do not fail, they hope by the end of the year to double the 2020 figures and close with a turnover of seven million euros, a figure that would represent a new record. for the company.
From Northdeco, they explain that since their birth in 2018, they have experienced exponential growth that has not stopped even in the midst of a health crisis. Their ambition has no limits, so much so that they hope to reach 20 million by 2025, which would mean a growth of 525% compared to 2019.
Getting around the economic crisis has been largely due to the importance of e-commerce in your business. âThe pandemic has put the digital world in the spotlight. More and more people are choosing to shop online and avoiding unnecessary trips or queues. Without a doubt, from a commercial point of view, this has been beneficial to us, âexplains Cortina.
This growth allows Nothdecho to carry out international expansion projects, even if for the moment they exclude making the big leap to countries in America or Asia. By 2021, one of its main objectives is to strengthen its presence in Spain, to take the step towards more countries and, above all, to âgain market share in the countries where we are already establishedâ.
To date, 70% of its turnover is achieved abroad, mainly in France. Cortina is clear on the importance of the neighboring country: âThe French public is more sensitive to the world of design in general. Plus, they tend to have higher average tickets.
The importance of France and Spain in Northdeco’s activity can be explained by a simple factor, transport. âIn these two countries, we are more competitive with transport. The further you go in Europe, the more expensive it is to ship the product, âsays the CEO.
In the Northdeco catalog you can find both our own designed parts and those of other brands, but these are always âexclusive products at an unbeatable priceâ as detailed by the company itself.
The products available on its website are not only “minimalist, simple and functional”, the company is concerned about the planet and is also committed to carrying out an eco-responsible policy. So much so that they have set themselves a goal for 2021 to embark on the manufacture of furniture manufactured in a responsible manner.
Indeed, some of its products are currently certified with the acronym WPC (Wood Plastic Compositer). What does it mean? These are unique pieces that are produced with bamboo and sawdust, are fully recyclable and free from harmful substances.
âWe placed a first order at the start of the first quarter of 2021. We will receive it shortly. We put the items on pre-sale to calculate the reception it would have, and almost all of the product is sold on demand.
We estimate to close this year with more than 5,000 ecological chairs sold, âexplains Cortina. Their long-term goal is to be more and more ecological, even if they recognize that today talking about 100% of the products âis complicatedâ.
