HIGH POINT – The Sustainable Furnishings Council names the top retailers in the furniture industry for sustainable wood practices in its 2020 Scoreboard for Wood Furniture.
Along with the announcement, a panel discussion with representatives from several of the highest scoring companies will be moderated by SFC Ambassador Laura Hodges during an online webinar on October 15 from noon to 1 p.m. ET.
The Wood Furniture Scorecard started in 2018 as an assessment of top retailers. For this year’s edition, medium and small dealers are included.
The 2020 list recognizes 14 companies for the Top Score designation, 12 in the High Score category and four receiving an honorable mention.
Those with the highest score with at least 18 points out of a total of 31 points include Mebl Furniture, Simbly, Cisco Home, Williams-Sonoma Group, Crate and Barrel, Re.dwell and Vermont Woods Studio. Mass retailers Target and Ikea North America are among the larger companies named in the 2020 list.
Qualified retailers are selected by the SFC and the National Wildlife Federation for an assessment based on a solid timber procurement policy available in the public domain, demonstrating the implementation of the policy and effectively promoting the preservation of forest ecosystems.
The Wood Furniture Scorecard rates retailers regardless of their SFC membership status.
Top rated companies receive a badge to use for marketing purposes, signaling their commitment to sustainable wood practices.
Thursday’s online webinar is part of the SFC’s October High Point Market Events Series. Registration is compulsory.
