HIGHLIGHT – Solid wood furniture manufacturer Whittier Wood Furniture is moving its showroom to a larger space at 220 Elm in time for the upcoming spring pre-market and market cycle.
For the past 10 years, the company has occupied a nearly 2,700 square foot showroom in space H-1120 at the International Home Furnishings Center.
The four-story building’s new Suite 302 showroom will allow the company to better showcase its range of hardwood bedroom and accent furniture in a larger, light-filled space natural.
“The move to 220 Elm gave us the opportunity to show more products in a welcoming, bigger and lighter environment,” said Evert Slijper, executive vice president, sales and marketing. “The location is central and with easy access to nearby buildings and shuttle routes.
The move also positions the company alongside other well-known resources, including hardwood furniture maker West Bros.
“We had been chasing 220 Elm for some time. It is a nice building and a manageable size. added Conni Barofsky, Marketing Manager. “We thought it was a good time to shake things up a bit.”
My name is Tom Russell and I have been with Furniture/Today since August 2003. Since then I have covered the international side of the business from a logistics and sourcing perspective. Since then, I have also visited several furniture trade shows and manufacturing plants in Asia, which has helped me better understand the industry in this part of the world. As I continue to cover the import side of the business, I look forward to growing this knowledge base through conversations with industry officials and future overseas factory visits. From time to time, I will post news and other industry views online and, as always, welcome your responses to these web posts.
