Wooden pieces add warmth and texture to any space and with so many shapes, sizes and finish options, the possibilities are endless. It’s easy to let wooden pieces be overshadowed by the sheen of textile furniture, but no more! It is high time to give our faithful pieces of wood the shine they deserve to offer our pieces elegance, charm and refinement.
One of the reasons why we can take wooden furniture for granted is that it has been around for so long. Wooden furniture has been a status-maker since its inception, showcasing the engineering and craftsmanship skills of each era. In fact, early civilization progressed from stone beds to ancient Egypt’s first wooden raised bed frame, soon to be followed by the world’s first wooden throne. It’s fascinating to look back at the original styles and see how they were transformed into the intricate bed frames and colorful bamboo chairs we see today.
A common misconception is that upholstered furniture is the only customizable option, but the unlimited finishes, grains and details for wood furniture can fit any style and any home. While I love traditional wood colors, it’s fun to think outside of the typical stain palette. Lacquered woods are not only durable, but the finish gives even the most traditional frames a modern twist, perfect for lovers of a new traditional style. If a room needs more texture or a natural element, I automatically think of wicker. Since wicker can be made of many materials like cane, willow, rattan, and bamboo, it can be incorporated into a space in many ways.
